Beyond Dreams: Stories

Only another writer would understand how the characters in your story can write themselves into situations you didn't plan and don't know how to get out of

No chortling. Some of these stories are from a long time ago.

The Royalty, The Poor, and the Three Tasks is my earliest story I wrote. It's from 2nd grade.

Spaceplanet is from 3rd grade. I still laugh every time I think about it.

Joan and the Flood was written somewhere in my elementary school years, 4th or 5th grade, probably. I dedicated it to my sister Joanne when I wrote it. Joan's name came from Joanne.

The Blizzard was about 5th grade, at my best guess. I still have the original copies.

The Adventure is from about 6th grade. I think it was a school assignment.

A Made-up Legend is from 7th or 8th grade. It was an assignment in social studies class when we were studying mythology.

My short story, No Hurricane Too Strong, is from 8th grade. My english teacher taught us the writing process and made us (the class) write an entire story with plot, character... everything "down to the lint in thier pockets".

My biggest project and greatest source of pride here is The Book of Shakara. I've been working on it for at least six years. Only about the first chapter or so is up right now. Please let me know if you want to read more. It's a novel, literally. Or will by, by the time I'm done with all my editing, changing, and additions. It's the first book of three; though the others are hardly under construction, the storylines are (mostly) all planned out.

Finally, inspired by books I've read, I've also decided to try re-writing classic fairy tales in my own way, a series I've titled Fairy-Tales Retold. Thus far, I have completetd Golden Hair, a retelling of Cinderella, Golden Hair Retold, the same story written from the prince's point-of-view (recommended reading after the original), The Animal, a retelling of Beauty and the Beast, and Undesired, a retelling of Sleeping Beauty (not recommended for children under 13). I have put up the first half of each story here (yes, the first half). Again, if you want to read the rest of these three stories, just ask.
